Ár Scoil

Bunaíodh Gaelscoil Chill Dara sa bhliain 1995.  Bhí tuismitheoirí na Gaelscoile ansin ag iarraidh oideachas iarbhunscoile trí Ghaeilge a sholáthrú dá bpáistí.  D'fhág an chéad rang iomlán an Gaelscoil i 2003.

Thosaigh tuismitheoirí ar an obair seo nuair a bhí an bhunscoil lonnaithe go sealadach i Lóiste Herbert. D'aistrigh an Gaelscoil go dtí suíomh ar An Bóthar Glas i Meitheamh 2002 agus leis sin tháinig an fís - Gaelchampus a bhunú ar an láithrean sin.  B'é rogha tuismitheoirí, scólairí (270 ag an am agus ag méadú), an pobal gaelach, Comhairle Dhroichid Nua, agus eagraisí na Gaeilge go dtósódh Gael-Choláiste Chill Dara láithreach. Dúirt Coiste Gairmoideachais Chill Dara nach raibh siad sásta nó in ann freastal a dhéanamh ar éileamh na dtuismitheoirí. D'fhiosraigh bunaitheoirí na scoile pátrúin agus modhanna bainistíochta eile chun oideachas meánscoile lánghaeilge a sholáthrú dár bpáistí agus chuige sin ghlacamar leis 'An Foras Pátrúnachta' mar phátrún na scoile os rud é gurbh é an t-aon pátrúin a bhí ain ann eiteas agus cultúir na scoile a chinntiú agus cheanglaíomar leis an gcóras JMB.
Laisitigh de bhliain chuir Gael-Choláiste Chill Dara fáilte roimh a chéad daltaí i Meán Fómhair 2003.

Gaelscoil Chill Dara was founded in 1995.  Parents in Gaelscoil Chill Dara wanted to provide post-primary education for their children through Irish. In 2003 the first full class finished in Gaelscoil Chill Dara.

Parents started working on a secondary school while the Gaelscoil was still tempoarily housed in Herbert Lodge.  The Gaelscoil moved to its present accomodation on the Green Road in June 2002 and with it grew the vision of a Gaelchampus.  It was the choice of parents, pupils (270 at the time and increasing), the Irish community, Newbridge Town Council and Irish organisations that Gael-Choláiste would start immediately.  As Kildare V.E.C were unable and unwilling to accommodate the wishes of parents the founders investigated alternative patronage and management structures in the persuit of an all-Irish secondary education for our children and having done so adopted "An Foras Pátrúnachta" as the schools patron, it being the only patron who would guarantee the schools ethos and culture and so we also became part of the JMB structure.
Within a year Gael-Choláiste Chill Dara welcomed its first group of students in September 2003.
